¼ cup dairy sour cream
¼ cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
1 teaspoon lemon juice
In a 1-cup microwave-safe, i.e. Pyrex, measuring cup or jar, combine sour cream, mayonnaise or salad dressing and lemon juice.
Cook, uncovered, on high for 30 to 60 seconds or until heated through. Do not boil.
Serve with hot vegetables.
If you are not a fan of mayonnaise, an alternative to hollandaise -- which uses neither mayonnaise nor butter but does use egg yolks -- is Avgolemono Sauce, made with egg yolks and a good chicken stock. And, last but not least, an excellent alternative to hollandaise which does not use mayonnaise but does use a small amount of butter is Hard-Cooked Egg Sauce.
