GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE

 2 or 3 packages frozen French-style green beans
1 medium onion
3 tablespoons  butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can French-fried onion rings

Melt butter in saucepan, add finely chopped onion and cook until golden.  Add green beans.  Pour in ¼ to ½  cup water and salt  Cover and cook over low heat for fifteen minutes (or until beans are just barely defrosted).
Stir in undiluted soup.  Toss.  Put in a flat casserole dish. (Pyrex is fine.)
Top with onion rings just before cooking.  
Put in 350° F oven, just long enough to bring casserole to a bubbly state and crisp the onion rings.
